In the world’s poorest countries, there are few dentists, and people cannot afford even basic dental care. Untreated tooth decay can lead to life-threatening conditions – even cause a flesh-destroying bacteria, called noma. Mercy Ships volunteer dentists and hygienists not only address current needs but educate communities in prevention methods.
